Product Description
N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) is formed from L-cysteine plus an acetyl group. Acetylcysteine appears as a white crystalline powder; it has a garlic-like odor and a sour taste; Hygroscopic. Its chemical name is N-acetyl-L-cysteine, its molecular formula is C5H9NO3S, and its relative molecular mass is 163.20. Over the past 30 years, it has been used as a mucolytic agent for a variety of respiratory diseases. Later, it was discovered that acetylcysteine has a protective effect on liver cells and is used to treat liver toxic damage caused by acetaminophen poisoning. It is now an important drug in the treatment of acetaminophen poisoning.
