N-acetylcysteine is a compound containing acetyl and cysteine groups. It is a non protein amino acid commonly abbreviated as NAC. N-acetylcysteine plays an important physiological function in the body.
N-acetylcysteine is a precursor of glutathione, a potent antioxidant that helps eliminate free radicals and protect cells from oxidative damage. N-acetylcysteine can increase the level of glutathione in the body by supplementing the synthetic raw materials of glutathione, thereby improving antioxidant capacity.
