Can echinacea really fight colds and the flu?

Echinacea is a wild flower of the composite family native to America.  Echinacea has been used as a medicinal plant in North America for hundreds of years.  Echinacea was first used for medical purposes by North American Indians in the 18th century and quickly spread across the United States.  

In the 19th century, a doctor named MEL learned from American Indians about herbal remedies and introduced echinacea to Europe to treat colds.  Auxiliary treatment of upper respiratory tract infection, as well as trauma, ulcers, eczema, etc. 

Echinacea is widely used as an immunomodulator in the world.

Echinacea has been shown in trials to relieve upper respiratory tract infections and early symptoms of colds, and to shorten the duration of illness, especially in the early stages.  Many FAMILY doctors in the United States now recommend echinacea for prevention of upper respiratory tract infections and other inflammation, and point out that it may be a reasonable choice, even better than antibiotics, for healthy young people in the early stages of a cold.  

Second, as an immunomodulator and immunomodulator
